NC -May 23, 2005: Microwave Data Systems (MDS),

partner Twin Eagle Consulting, today announced it will
provide a wireless infrastructure to support the city
of Brighton, Colorado Police Department's both fixed
and mobile applications.
High-speed data throughput, long-range
coverage, and the availability of multiple levels of
security were factors in the city's selection of the
MDS iNET 900® radio. This new wireless communications
network will connect police officers from their patrol
vehicles to the city's network. In addition, it will
connect the city's new emergency warning siren system
to the network, as well.
"This integrated shared system
provides us economy of scale with the other city departments
with only one radio system to manage and service,"
said Brighton Police Department Commander Bob White.
"This radio provides us with the bandwidth needed
for our applications, and because of its extended range,
it requires much less infrastructure than what is needed
for Wi-Fi applications."
Using MDS iNET radios, this new
system will streamline processes and increase efficiency
by enabling officers to submit reports and complete
other paperwork remotely from their vehicles. And because
it is a private network that the city owns, recurring
monthly charges are virtually eliminated.
"The increased bandwidth allows
us to push data tables, maps, photos from our records
management software, and other large files directly
to our officers in their vehicles for field reporting,"
White said. "It's an economical, integrated solution
enabling us to be more efficient."
