Western Systems is one of only a few companies that that can provide a full line of custom cabinets to the Transportation industry. We provide cabinets meeting all NEMA TS1 and TS2 specifications.

WHAT IS A P CABINET?

The Western Systems P Cabinet is a NEMA-style traffic signal control cabinet designed for ITS applications. Built to meet NEMA TS1 and TS2 specifications and UL listed, it serves as the primary enclosure for signal controllers, load switches, detection equipment, and integration hardware at signalized intersections.

CUSTOMIZATION AND DEPLOYMENT

Western Systems P Cabinets are fully customizable to meet municipal and DOT specifications, including options for integrated load centers, power backup systems, climate management, dual load switches, and rear-door maintenance access.
P Cabinets are typically deployed at signalized intersections and arterial corridors as the primary traffic control cabinet platform for ITS infrastructure.

Standard Enclosure Specification

  • Completely fabricated from .125” - thick type 5052 +32 mill finished aluminum utilizing continuously welded construction for maximum protection from contaminants.
  • Internal attaching components include twelve (12) ‘C’ mounting channels, (4) per side Wall and (2) on rear wall for attaching equipment panels.
  • The door opening is completely double-flanged to prevent water drops.
  • Thermoconvection air ventilation system utilized with provisions for mounting fan for forced-air cooling.
  • Exhaust outlet opening are provided under the roof-overhang.
  • Louvered inlet with filter to prevent dirt from entering with air flow.
  • All external & internal hardware is fabricated from stainless steel.
  • Continuous hinge is fabricated from stainless steel.
  • 3/4” diameter stainless steel inward turning handle with provisions for padlocking.
  • Automatic door stop to hold main door open at 90, 120, & 135 degrees.
  • Provided with Best Locks with a blue construction core.
  • Enclosure is UL listed.
  • Powder coated finishes, interior white & exterior gray
