The Hands Behind Our Mitchell Displays. Chelsea’s Craft and Care.

Some of the most meaningful work at Western Systems doesn’t happen in front of an audience. It happens at the bench, inside the cabinet, and in the quiet moments where experience meets care. That’s where Chelsea has built her career — and where she has become an essential part of the team.

This May, Chelsea celebrates 10 years with Western Systems, a milestone that reflects not just time, but growth, dedication, and a deep connection to the work she does every day.

A Decade of Growth and Trust

Chelsea joined Western Systems in 2016, starting as a bench worker. From the beginning, she was hands-on — learning the details, understanding how things fit together, and building confidence through experience.

Over time, her role naturally expanded. As Western Systems took on and grew the Mitchell product line, Chelsea became closely involved, developing a level of familiarity and trust with the products that only comes from years of working with them directly.

Today, Chelsea is widely recognized as the in-house expert on Mitchell displays and boards. She understands how they are built, how they are configured, and how they need to perform in real-world conditions. From layouts and bills of materials to training and documentation, Chelsea plays a central role in ensuring each display is built with intention and reliability.

There may not be an official title for it, but her leadership is clear — and deeply valued.

Why Mitchell Displays Matter

Mitchell  displays and boards may not be visible to drivers, but they are fundamental to how traffic systems function. They support communication, clarity, and consistency inside the cabinet — helping ensure signals operate as designed.

What makes these displays especially powerful is their flexibility. A single Mitchell  board can often serve multiple applications, allowing agencies to adapt systems to their specific needs. As those needs have evolved, so have the products.

Under Western Systems’ care, Mitchell displays have been redesigned, refined, and expanded. New configurations have been introduced, including fully custom builds developed in response to agency requests. Some projects start from familiar designs; others begin as entirely new concepts.

Chelsea is deeply involved in this evolution — helping translate ideas into buildable, dependable solutions. Her experience ensures that each display isn’t just assembled, but thoughtfully put together, with long-term performance in mind.

Building More Than Products

As demand for Mitchell displays continues to grow, so does the team supporting them. What was once handled by one person is now expanding — and Chelsea is playing a key role in training and guiding others.

This kind of knowledge-sharing matters. Mitchell displays require attention, understanding, and consistency. Chelsea’s approach helps ensure that as the team grows, the quality and care behind each build remains the same.

Beyond the technical work, Chelsea brings something just as important: steadiness. She is known for being approachable, patient, and always willing to help. She doesn’t seek recognition, but her presence shapes the team in meaningful ways. In many respects, she is the quiet heartbeat behind the work.

Seeing the Impact

When Chelsea is out driving, she sometimes looks at intersections and wonders what’s inside the cabinet — how the system is built, whether it’s one of theirs, and how it’s performing.

That connection matters. Traffic signal systems play a real role in safety and daily life. When they work well, people don’t notice — and that’s exactly the point. But when something goes wrong, the consequences are immediate.

Chelsea understands that responsibility, even if she doesn’t dwell on it. Her focus is simple: build it right, every time.

After ten years, Chelsea’s story is one of quiet expertise, earned trust, and pride in craftsmanship. And behind every well-built Mitchell display, there is care, experience, and intention, the kind that makes a real difference, even when no one is watching.
