Inside the Shop: How Cade Turns Designs Into Dependable Traffic Systems

Every reliable intersection begins on the production floor. This is where ideas turn into real hardware and where the equipment that supports safer and smarter roads is built. At Western Systems, Cade plays an important role in this work as a Production Technician and ATC+ Builder.

A Journey That Started in 2018

Cade joined Western Systems in 2018 at the age of 22. He started in display assembly and quickly began learning the many parts of our production process. Over time, he worked in display, bench, final assembly, load bays, and now ATC+. Each step helped him understand how our equipment supports cities, counties and agencies in the field.

From Design to Deployment

Today Cade builds sub-assemblies, wires components, solders connections and helps prepare layouts for new cabinet designs. When engineering introduces a new concept, Cade is often one of the first to assemble it and help turn it into a dependable product.

He was the first person to build the ATC+ cabinet on the floor after the prototype was released, which helped transition the design into a system ready for real-world use.

Reliability Built by Hand

Cade enjoys the variety in his work. Some days, he drills and taps hardware. Other days, he wires load bays, prepares layout plates, or works on new assemblies. Each task supports signal technicians who maintain these systems and the people who rely on them every day.

His favorite moments happen outside the shop. When he walks through downtown Seattle and spots a cabinet he helped build, he knows the intersection is operating safely because the system is working as it should. This connection reflects Western Systems’ mission to support reliable traffic safety solutions and resilient infrastructure.

Creativity Outside the Shop

Cade is also creative outside of work. He codes custom websites and performs as a vocalist in a rock band. His music is inspired by classic and glam rock, and he writes original songs with his bandmates. They perform at open mics and are aiming for their first full show.

Why Cade’s Work Matters

Dependable traffic systems start with careful craftsmanship. Every wire, every connection, and every assembly supports engineers, agencies, and communities across the region. Cade’s attention to detail helps deliver equipment that stands up to real conditions and keeps people moving safely.

Reliable infrastructure begins with reliable builders, and Cade is one of the team members who makes that possible at Western Systems.
