Since joining Western Systems more than five years ago, Risli has steadily advanced her career, earning three promotions and mastering the art of traffic cabinet assembly. Her current role in Final Assembly is at the heart of what we do: bringing together the complex components that power smart city infrastructure and support communities across the western United States.
“I start from scratch,” she explains. “I add the gaskets, do the drilling and tapping, measure and install the shelves and brackets, and then assemble all the parts. After that, I move on to wiring and routing — always following the design plans exactly.”
Her meticulous approach ensures the reliability and performance of some of the most advanced technologies in traffic management today — from P+ traffic signal cabinets and connectivity solutions, to Alpha® Battery Backup Systems. These products are the backbone of resilient, future-ready intersections that keep communities moving safely and efficiently.
The Human Side of Smart Infrastructure
Originally from Guatemala, Risli brings both passion and personality to her work. A self-described heavy coffee drinker , she’s also a dedicated bass guitarist and an outdoor enthusiast who loves hiking, kayaking, and staying active. Her commitment to health and movement is part of what fuels her energy on the job: “I walk during lunch and after work, and I go to the gym at least four times a week. Diet and I don’t really get along — I prefer to exercise!” she laughs.
That same energy and determination translate directly into her work, where attention to detail and consistency are critical. Whether she’s wiring an intelligent traffic cabinet or ensuring the precision of a custom-built enclosure, Risli plays an essential role in delivering the smart mobility solutions that cities, counties, and DOTs across the West rely on.
